The Mexican Apostolate of Brooklyn & Queens is a vibrant and active community within the diocese, functioning under the guidance of the Migrant and Ethnic Apostolate, led by Most Rev. Witold Mrozieski, J.C.D., D.D., V.E. The ministry also operates in close collaboration with the Spanish Apostolate, directed by Deacon Jorge Gonzalez. Its primary mission is to foster and promote the Christian Catholic Faith among the Mexican community through various religious and cultural activities.
The heart of the Mexican Apostolate’s annual calendar is the Diocesan celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe on December 12th. This event brings together the faithful in a vibrant display of devotion and community spirit. Additionally, the ministry supports various Guadalupano Committees in different parishes, helping to coordinate and enhance their activities in honor of the beloved patroness. On a monthly basis, the Mexican Apostolate conducts catechesis and evangelization sessions, reaching out to the Mexican community in various parishes. These sessions are an opportunity for spiritual growth and education, aiming to deepen the faith and understanding of the attendees.
The apostolate is sustained by the dedication of about 25 individuals from diverse parishes across the diocese, who generously volunteer their time and resources to plan and execute the various activities and events. Leading the charge is Very Rev. Baltazar Sanchez – Alonzo, Pastor of Saint Mary Gate of Heaven Parish in Ozone Park, supported by Edith Areizaga, in charge of Media and a member of Saint Brendan Parish.
The Mexican Apostolate invites all individuals of Mexican heritage or those interested in the rich tapestry of Mexican Catholic tradition to join in their activities, celebrate their faith, and grow together as a community under the maternal gaze of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
