Most Reverend Robert J. Brennan, Bishop of Brooklyn, regrets to inform you of the death of Reverend Theophane (John) Cooney, C.P., a retired priest of the Congregation of the Passion, Province of Saint Paul of the Cross (The Passionists), who was in residence in the Diocese of Brooklyn at the Immaculate Conception Monastery (Jamaica). Father Cooney was born on February 15, 1928, was ordained to the Priesthood on May 25, 1952, and died Monday, March 31, 2025.
